A Guide to Ontology

What It Is

This guide to ontology or meta theory, as I like to call it, is a way to conceptualize anything in its entirety. When applying it to something, we can consider all possible factors for what a thing is or could be. This helps us understand ourselves and what we do or do not know about something.

It is not a theory. It does not explain how anything in particular works using evidence. I've called it a theory of everything in a few places just because it is flashy. It is something like a theory of everything.

It is not technically a meta theory either. I have redefined meta theory as a method of conceptualizing, which can be applied to anything. It is a meta theory under my definition. It is not a theory of a theory or an explanation of a theory, which is the standard definition of a meta theory.

I like to compare it to the scientific method. There isn't an exact way of applying it but you can't just make things up. There is a puzzle to applying it and you can put the puzzle together incorrectly.

It is important to remember that all concepts within it are fundamental to the human perceptual experience and they can be viewed from both a material and ideal point of view. A consideration of dualism is important.

It is also important to remember that it isn't an exact process and the meta theory can fractal of sorts. Each term is a new origin of entropy in application. There can be spectrums within both the collective and individual side of things. There can be a spectrum of entropy. There can be entropy within spectrums. There can be voids present within anything at an point. Everything can mix together and become interchangeable or stay seperate and distinct.

To properly apply the meta theory, one must stay mentally flexible.

This meta theory is exclusive to human psychology and perceptual understanding.

Why It Is Beneficial

The meta theory is beneficial and productive for different reasons, depending on the setting and reasoning for it being utilized.

On an individual level, it is helpful for one to understand themself and how they are perceiving something with more accuracy, detail, and decreased bias. One can apply it to a thing and learn more deeply what they do and do not know about it. It also forces one to create structured, connective views on whatever it is being applied to.

A business, could apply it to themselves or a product, assisting them in conceptualizing and exploring ways of thinking they would not have accomplished otherwise. Often, marketing and selling a business or product requires a deep ontological understanding of it.

There are many potential applications of the meta theory in the medical field in regards to diagnostics and communication.

On a personal level, I have used it to create many different definitions and explanations of various concepts. When using it in this way, I do not break things down between the individual terms of the meta theory and the application of it in this way can be difficult to understand. I consider each aspect of the meta theory and apply it all at once.

Explanation of Terms

Origin of Entropy

The origin of entropy is the first point of contact for human experience. It is similar to causation but is not causation. It is the origin from which entropy emerges. The first point from which we can begin conceptualizing something.

Entropy

Entropy is that which we can't immediately understand but can eventually to a fine detail. Entropy is only real from the human perspective. It is an idealist, framework for understanding.

Spectrums

The spectrum is everything something could be. Everyone views everything at least slightly differently. There is a spectrum of perceptions for everything. Physical spectrums only exist as idealistic frameworks. Similarly to entropy, spectrums only exist as an idealistic framework for perceptual understanding.

Schemas

A schema is one's individual interpretation of a thing. The individual's mental schematic. Everyone views every thing at least slightly differently. These different interpretations help to create perceptual spectrums. In general application, this is individual perception. I often make a high consideration for connotations regarding schemas.

Rule Consequentialism

Rule consequentialism is the collective agreement or view of a thing. If we follow what has been agreed upon, good. If not, bad. Binary thinking is not advised though. Rule consequentialism is complicated. I often reduce rule consequentialism down to words in application of the meta theory. A word is a rule for what a thing is. Confusion regarding rule consequentialism or the collective view, leads to voids.

The Void

The void is that which we do not know that we do not know. Also, it is that which we can't know. A direct example of the void, is not the void. It is different from entropy in that we can't possibly come to any understanding or truth.

Meaning

When we combine all of these factors together at once, we get meaning.

Beauty

Something is more or less beautiful depending on how many different factors of consideration are included within it and how well it functions. What factors are included and how well something functions, leaves beauty as subjective.

Direct Applications

The Weather

An origin of entropy for the weather is the atmosphere. Potentially more specifically for precipitation, clouds.

Entropy is all of the factors to consider which create whatever weather exists at any point in time. Temperature, pressure, humidity, etc. Everything we can figure out accurately which begins in the atmosphere and contributes to the weather we may have.

The spectrum is all of the weather that exists or could exist within an area or climate. Different areas or climates can potentially have different types of weather which defines that spectrum.

Rule consequentialism is everything we can identify as the weather. Sometimes great rule consequentialism doesn't exist. Sometimes precipitation is something of a mix of rain, sleet, hail, snow. No exactly accurate word exists which can be agreed upon.

A schema is each individual’s interpretation of the weather. Personally, I like rain. I don't like snow. I don't mind cold. I don't like heat and humidity.

The void is knowing exactly what weather we will have. The weather people are quite good but are never exactly accurate. We can't possibly know exactly what weather we will have.

A Community

The origin of entropy is the location or shared association between the community which brings them together. Whatever it is that began that community or brings that community together.

The entropy is the effectiveness of communication within that community. It could also be the general logistics of how information flows between the community.

The spectrum is the diversity of thought and ideas shared within that community.

By wording, the rule consequentialism is a society, group, or population.

It could also be the shared, agreed upon rules to follow which are relative to that community.

The schema is each individual's views of and contributions to that community.

The void is whatever is not known or understood because of a lack of communication.

Thought/Thinking

There is room for debate on the origin of entropy for a thought and this is a good example of how some of the concepts within the meta theory can blend together. It is not an exact process. The origin of entropy for a thought is in the void of sorts. Is the origin of entropy for a thought purely material and neurological? Do we have free will, making the origin of entropy for a thought either metaphysical or a result of quantum interactions we don't understand yet? I would argue the origin of entropy for a thought is a deterministic process with dualistic origins.

The entropy for a thought can be viewed from many different angles. Cognitive dissonance is parallel to entropic thinking. Metacognition also plays a role. I won't overextend myself here but there are many factors that contribute to the entropy of thought. Genetics and neurological diversity play a large role.

The spectrum for thinking is everything we have or ever will think of.

There are many synonyms for thinking, depending on context, which can be considered the rule consequentialism. We can also view this side of the meta theory as the general collective, thought. There is a massive spectrum and diversity of thought which exists within our population.

The schema is each individual's thought or views. This could also be viewed as each individual's potential spectrum of thought.

The void is what one does not know about their thinking. Maybe they have a psychological or neurological condition effecting their thinking they are not aware of.

About Me

0819171400_edited.jpg

My name is Nick Miller and I am a backyard philosopher. I have created what I call a meta theory of everything which logically conceptualizes anything and everything. I plan to apply it to any thing and every thing I possibly can.

Nothing IS. Other than what IS.
